Safetech Research Institute (SRI) is a third-party research and assessment organization with high-level expertise. SRI has a world- leading technical team, who endeavors to solve safety technical problems encountered by facilities and structures in the modern oil and gas industries. SRI aims at serving as a good doctor for the industries and to be a guardian for production safety. Based on the rich academic resources of the Corrosion and Protection Center of University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), SRI plays a vital role in the Corrosion Control and Facility Safety Industrial Technology Union.

There are six technical centers in the SRI: Cathodic Protection Computing & Research Center, Oil & Gas Facilities Integrity Technology Center, Hydrogen Embrittlement and Failure Analysis Center, Material Selection and Evaluation Center, Engineering Mechanics Research and Assessment Center and Corrosion Control New Technology Center. The technical services include cathodic protection, AC/DC interference, corrosion direct assessment, integrity technology, coating performance evaluation, hydrogen embrittlement and damage, failure analysis, material applicability assessment, chemical selection and evaluation and new corrosion control technologies. The independent testing laboratory -SRI Lab owns a collection of world class corrosion test instruments, equipment and various kinds of software, which can be used for various tests and analysis in material, dynamics, corrosion, fracture, coating, cathodic protection and inhibitors, etc.

Safetech Research Institute has a multi-disciplinary technical R & D team, consisting of renowned experts, professors, doctors and masters. The team is a combination of young talents and veteran expertise, and it has fulfilled over a hundred research projects in the corrosion control area, among which are national programs and projects contracted by CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC.
